Michael is a Tulsa native who grew up in Los Angeles before returning to Tulsa. He holds a degree in Architecture from Oklahoma State University and developed a the human form, and the contemporary atelier movement during his time in school. Michael has lent his artistic abilities to various organizations, including illustrating books for the School of Architecture, working with the OSU Alumni Association, and spending time as a part of serveral architectural firms. He has also undertaken independent projects, such as the preliminary studies for The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley and other commercial and residential developments.
Now, Michael's work focuses on the intersection of art and building, as he believes that architecture is a living poetic whole. He values individual context and sees architecture as a dynamic assembly of the arts that embodies both the spirit of the individual and the spirit of the age. Michael founded the Society for the Protection of Architecture (SPA-13 or sometimes just A13) in 2013.
Currently, Michael lives and works in Tulsa, where he runs LightingARTS Studio. His work has been commissioned by private collectors and displayed in Tulsa and Dallas, as well as featured in numerous publications. Among his current projects are Face of Tulsa (One Hundred Portraits of a City), Light after Death (Tectonic Transitions of the Hereafter), Unbuilt Portraiture (Visionary Anthropomorphic Architecture), One Hundred Churches (Spiritual Bridges and Architectures), Society for the Protection of Architecture - A13, and Building Blocks.
