A R T a n d T E C T O N I C S
Michael is a native Tulsan. He grew up outside of Los Angeles and returned to Tulsa during the 1960's. He attended Oklahoma State University and holds a degree in Architecture. During that time he devoted many class hours to the art program and cultivated an interest in classicism, the human form and the contemporary atelier movement.
He has worked for the School of Architecture illustrating books, the OSU Alumni Association and various architectural firms. Independently he produced the early preliminary studies for The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley and various other commercial and residential projects.
Currently his work looks at the intersection of art and building expressing his strong belief that architecture is a living poetic whole. He believes in the context of the individual and that architecture is a dynamic assemblage of the arts both embodying the spirit of the individual and the spirit of an age.
In 2013 he founded, A13 - Society for the Protection of Architecture (SPA-13).
Michael continues to live and work in Tulsa where he maintains, LightingARTS Studio. His work has been commissioned and acquired by private collectors, shown in Tulsa and in Dallas,
and featured in numerous publications.
Current projects include ; Face of Tulsa (One Hundred Portraits of a City), Light after Death (Tectonic Transitions of the Hereafter), Un-built Portraiture (Visionary Anthropomorphic Architecture), One Hundred Churches (Spiritual Bridges and Architectures), Society for the Protection of Architecture - A13 and Building Blocks.
